Political History
On October 1, 2018, Babagana Umara won the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressive Congress for Borno State. He was elected to the Office of the Governor of Borno State at the 2019 Borno gubernatorial election held on March 9, 2019 with 1175440 votes to beat his closest opponent, Muhammad Imam of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 66, 115 votes.
