Personal Life
Smart Adeyemi is happily married to Yemisi Smart Adeyemi. The couple met while Yemisi was working as a newscaster with the Nigerian Television Authority, Ilorin. Smart was also working with the NTA then as a sports reporter. The union is blessed with children. On the 25th of August 2018, Yemisi died from health reasons.
Education
He earned a post-graduate diploma in Public Relations, Diploma in Law, advanced diploma in Mass Communication, and master’s in Public Administration from the Federal University of Technology Owerri.

Political History
Smart Adeyemi was elected Senator for the Kogi West constituency of Kogi State, Nigeria in April 2007. He contested under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He contested again for the Kogi West Senator and won the PDP primary to compete for re-election in April 2011. However, a court nullified the PDP primary election on 4 April 2011, saying it did not follow due process as defined in the electoral act. A fresh primary was run on 7 April, in which Adeyemi defeated his opponent Abiye Abinso by 1,124 votes to two. In the elections of 9 April 2011, Adeyemi retained his seat. Adeyemi contested again for the third time defeating Dino Melaye in a supplementary election ordered by the country’s apex court. He won with a margin of over 20,000 votes.
He will be retiring from his current position as the member representing Kogi West senatorial district in the upcoming 2023 election.
