Political History
He began his political journey by joining other progressive young men and women to form the Kogi Youth Arise Group. The group threw its weight behind the candidature of Buhari/Osinbajo in the last presidential election. He ran for the primary elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform as the flag bearer for the governorship election. Unfortunately, he lost to Abubarkar Audu who later died of a heart attack after he was declared the winner of the governorship election. Yahaya was nominated by the APC to take Abubarkar’s votes and become the governor in place of late Abubakar Audu
